Milestone 2 (Sumaiya)
Overview
For our second milestone, my team mostly focused on getting the proposal document started now that we have a much clearer idea of our project. I was in charge of working on the "Key Feature List / Scope", "High-Level Development Plan", and my part in "Team Member Roles and Bios" sections of the document, which took around 2 hours to complete.
Key Feature List / Scope
In terms of the key features, I split them up into three distinct of types as mentioned: Technical, Design and Interaction. As an initial step, I simply listed our proposed projects features. For the next milestone, this will be expanded to include detailed descriptions and the strategic importance of each feature.
High-Level Development Plan
In the "High-Level Development Plan" section, I've structured our timeline using a milestone table with columns for due dates and weekly goals. I've left the "Features to Complete" column empty, as it will require our team to collaboratively assign roles, solidify the game scope, and realistically assess our available time, considering responsibilities from our other courses.
Another section I worked on was my personal role description and bio, in which my interests and relevant experience was highlighted.
Alpha Presentation
Our team also decided on a template for the alpha presentation, and I created a basic skeleton for it just to get a head start. The current slides outline our project's title, concept definition, a live demo segment, and a summary of our key challenges and findings.Updated Trello Board
Finally, we updated our Trello board by adding more tasks to the backlog and ensure they reflect the current workflow. This includes tasks like working on the project proposal document, the Alpha presentation, etc...
Challenges
One challenge I had was with working on the "High-Level Development Plan" part, as the proposal document is still in a preliminary, bullet-point state, so it was hard to have a high-level plan based on that. However, I believe it's a good start nonetheless and we still have time to discuss this further and add more detail as the project scope becomes more concrete.
Successes
Overall, through team effort, I believe we've made great progress since our last milestone. As a result, we have a clearer idea of the direction we're taking with this project, which will simplify the process moving forward.
