Milestone 3 (Sumaiya)

Overview

For our team's third milestone, our primary focus was to get started on the game prototype using our Github repository, add more to the Alpha presentation slides, and polish our Proposal document. My role involved working on the mood board to solidify the feel and style of our game, adding more content to the Alpha presentation slides, and making more adjustments to the proposal document.

Mood board

I curated a collection of images to inspire the game's environmental and user interface (UI) design. The visuals maintain our core theme of a “space magical girl” while introducing an eerie undertone. This mood board will help guide asset selection as we move into the implementation phase, clarifying which elements we should create internally versus source externally.

Alpha Presentation

Next, I worked on the alpha presentation slides, focusing on the game's concept portion, as our prototype is still in progress. These slides outlined some key features and highlighted the enhancements we're making compared to our original project. Additionally, I embedded a shortened showcase video of the initial project to better illustrate its core mechanics and style.

Key Feature List / Scope

As for key features, I elaborated on their descriptions and prioritized them based on their priority.

Updated Trello Board

Our Trello board was updated to include new backlog tasks for the current and upcoming sprints. As our GitHub repository now contains initial scene files, we are making use of the “Locked and Available Scenes” list to organize work and prevent merge conflicts when collaborating on shared files.

Challenges

One challenge involved including the project showcase video into the presentation. The video's original length was impractical for a live presentation, so I edited it down while maintaining demonstrations of core features. Additionally, prototype development progressed more slowly than anticipated for this milestone.

Successes

Fortunately, we have made substantial progress on both the presentation slides and the proposal, leaving us well-positioned to dedicate more time to prototyping ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Hours Spent

Overall, we spent a total of 4 hours for this milestone. 45 minutes was spent planning our sprint goals, 30 minutes was spent on creating the mood board, around 2 hours were spent on the slides, and 45 minutes on refining the proposal.
