Milestone 6 (Zineb)
Overview
For this milestone, we worked on tasks to finalize our final prototype for the Beta presentations. My main roles included VR Implementation of the controls, carrying out the final puzzle for the player and modelling/adding assets to the game environment so the spaceship is complete.
I started with adding the VR controls to a separate scene. I added the hands and grabbing ability for the wand. The next step is to apply the toggle hold so the wand doesn't cause physical strain for the player.
The idea for the puzzle was changed once again. We decided to get rid of the tangram puzzle discussed in the last milestone and only focus on the final puzzle which will allow the player to be able to free Luna. The idea was that after the player defeats the final boss; they will get a reward from that fight which will allow them to execute the puzzle. The puzzle idea now is a connect the dots type of puzzle.
The game environment modelling went smoothly. I started with making the observatory where the control panel and main puzzle will take place and also looking for assets that could be used to make the spaceship interior.
Challenges
The most challenging task was to implement the VR controls to the wand mechanics. Deciding the motion/buttons to use in order to switch colors and hit the enemies was hard and confusing.
Successes
A success for this milestone would be the fact that we have a clear understanding and idea for the linear progression of the game. That helps us bring our prototype together and have the main mechanics of the game ready for the beta presentations coming up soon.
